Phuket travel guide

Best things
to do in Phuket.

From limestone karsts to certified cosmetics labs, Phuket rewards the curious traveller. Here is what's genuinely worth your time.

Essential planning
for your visit.

Phuket has three distinct seasons — high season (Nov–Apr), hot season (Apr–Jun), and green season (Jun–Oct). Each offers a different experience of the island. High season brings the best beach weather; green season brings half the crowds and lush jungle scenery.

What to do in Phuket — couple creating their own perfume at Herbsmetics Workshop
#1 hands-on experience

01 · Workshops

Immersive workshops:
learn a local skill.

One of the most rewarding things to do in Phuket is take a hands-on class and bring home a new skill. The Herbsmetics Workshop lets you create your own natural perfume, balm, or aroma diffuser using authentic Thai herbs — inside a Thai FDA-licensed production facility.

Unlike most tourist activities, you leave with something you made yourself. Each session runs for 2 hours with a maximum of 10 guests.

02

The Coastline

Finding your perfect Phuket beach vibe.

From the energetic Patong — lined with beach bars and water-sports vendors — to the tranquil Nai Harn in the south, Phuket's 40 km of coastline offers something for every mood. Kata Noi is the photographer's favourite; Surin and Bang Tao attract the design-conscious crowd. Freedom Beach, reached only by longtail boat, remains one of the island's best-kept secrets.

03

Island Hopping

Sea adventures from Phuket.

Phi Phi Islands for snorkelling in turquoise shallows, Phang Nga Bay for sea kayaking through limestone karsts, and the Similan Islands (open Nov–Apr) for world-class diving on pristine coral reefs. James Bond Island is touristy but unmissable at sunrise. Book day trips from Rassada Pier or Ao Po Grand Marina.

04

Spiritual Giants

Temples, Buddha, and Old Town.

The Phuket Big Buddha — a 45-metre white marble statue visible from across the island — rewards the climb with panoramic views from Nakkerd Hill. Wat Chalong, the island's largest and most revered temple, sits in a leafy compound south of town. Phuket Old Town's Sino-Portuguese shophouses make for the finest morning walk on the island, best finished with a bowl of Hokkien noodles at the Sri Trang market.
