Very nice teacher! Happy with my perfume.
A catamaran is the most stable, spacious, and visually spectacular platform for a workshop at sea. The wide deck gives every participant room to work; the twin-hull design keeps motion smooth even in a light chop. What you make will smell of the ocean, the tropics, and the specific afternoon you made it.
Most boats are too small, too unstable, or too focused on getting somewhere to work as a workshop venue. A catamaran solves all three problems. The wide beam creates a stable working platform that stays level in most sea conditions. The deck space is generous enough for groups of up to 20 to each have their own blending station. And because catamarans are designed for leisure sailing — not racing — the pace is unhurried, which is exactly what a creative workshop needs.
Participants board at the designated pier and are welcomed by the Herbsmetics facilitator with a short introduction to the session. The boat departs and sails for 30–40 minutes to reach open water or a scenic bay. Once anchored or sailing steadily, the fragrance blending session begins — typically 60–75 minutes for a group of up to 12, longer for larger groups. Each participant labels and seals their bottle before the return sail, which includes time to share creations and photograph the keepsakes against the sea backdrop.
Our standard departure points are Chalong Pier in south Phuket and Ao Yon Bay on the east coast. Chalong gives access to the outer islands and the clearest open-water sailing in south Phuket. Ao Yon Bay departures are well-suited to morning sessions with calmer conditions. For groups seeking the most dramatic scenery, the Phang Nga Bay route passes limestone karsts and emerald water — the backdrop most associated with Phuket in photographs. This route is available for private bookings and adds approximately 45 minutes to transit time.
Catamaran workshops accommodate groups from 4 to 20 participants. Groups of 4–8 receive the most immersive facilitation experience with individual attention throughout the blending session. Groups of 9–20 are split into two blending streams that run simultaneously, with our lead facilitator moving between them. Maximum headcount is determined by the vessel's safety certification and deck layout, which we confirm at the time of booking.
We partner with a small number of Phuket catamaran operators selected for vessel quality, crew professionalism, and safety certification. All partner vessels hold current Thai Marine Department certification and carry appropriate insurance. We inspect partner vessels annually and maintain the right to move bookings between vessels if a scheduled boat is unavailable. Vessel details are confirmed in the booking documentation.
Catamaran workshops start from ฿3,800 per person with a minimum group size of 4 participants. The price includes vessel hire for the agreed duration, all Herbsmetics workshop materials, facilitation, take-home packaging, and a post-session photo set. Drinks and snacks are included on select partner vessels and noted at the time of booking. Private catamaran bookings for groups of 12 or more receive a per-person discount.
She'd chosen jasmine and sea salt for the opening notes. By the time the boat had reached open water, the blend had come together — bright, tropical, with a warmth she put down to the frangipani she'd added on a hunch. She named it after the limestone karst visible off the starboard side. Six months later, in a flat in Edinburgh, the bottle was still on her bedside table. The smell brought her straight back to the deck, the light, the salt air, the particular blue of the Andaman that afternoon.
Tell us your preferred date, group size, and departure point. We'll confirm vessel availability and send a booking proposal.
