Phuket sunsets are famous for a reason — the sky over the Andaman turns colours that photographs struggle to capture. The sunset cruise workshop pairs that spectacle with the intimacy of creating your own fragrance: a sensory memory built from two directions at once, sight and scent, layered into a single golden hour.
The Golden Hour Experience
Phuket's west-facing coastline gives the sunset cruise its character. From approximately 5:30pm onwards, the light shifts through amber and rose and deepens into purple at the horizon. The workshop is timed specifically around this window — fragrance blending begins as the light changes, so the smell of what you are creating is inseparable from the visual memory of making it. Golden hour on the Andaman is not a backdrop. It is part of the experience.

Departures are from Chalong Pier in south Phuket. The boat heads west and south as the afternoon light softens. The fragrance blending session opens approximately 30 minutes into the cruise, giving participants time to settle and take in the environment before working with the materials. The blending session runs for 45–60 minutes, designed to reach its conclusion just as the horizon begins to glow. At the peak of sunset, the facilitator pauses the session for a celebration toast — everyone holds their finished bottle against the light. The return journey is used to package and label the keepsakes.
Departure Times & Duration
Departure times vary by season to track the actual sunset window — typically between 5:00pm and 5:45pm departure across the year. The full cruise duration is 2.5 hours. We confirm the exact departure time at the time of booking based on the date. Early arrivals (15 minutes before departure) are recommended as the boat departs on schedule.

The sunset cruise workshop operates in two modes. The shared cruise joins other small groups and couples aboard the same vessel for a sociable session — minimum 2 pax, maximum 12 per shared departure. The full boat reservation gives your group exclusive use of the vessel for up to 20 participants. The full boat format is strongly recommended for bachelorette groups, special occasion celebrations, and any group for whom privacy or atmosphere control matters.
Drinks & Sunset Package Pairings
All sunset cruises include a welcome drink on boarding. The celebration toast at peak sunset is included in the standard price — sparkling wine or non-alcoholic alternatives. Premium drinks packages with champagne, additional wines, and a grazing board can be added at the time of booking. We work with two Phuket catering partners for full sunset dinner packages on private boat bookings.
Booking the Sunset Cruise Workshop
Shared cruise slots are available with 48 hours' notice subject to availability. Full boat reservations require at least one week's notice; peak season dates (December–February, Songkran) should be booked 3–4 weeks in advance. Bookings are confirmed on receipt of a deposit. In the event of unsuitable sea conditions, we offer a full rebook or relocation to an in-studio sunset session.

It is not unusual for participants to choose their fragrance notes based on what they can see. The sunset cruise draws that out more than any other format — the light becomes a reference point. One evening a guest chose orange blossom, ylang-ylang, and a hint of cedarwood because, she said, the sky looked exactly like those three things at that particular moment. Her partner chose sea salt and vetiver. They named the bottles after each other. We think about that booking often.
